Gurgaon at a glance

Gurgaon (Gurugram) has grown into one of the busiest wedding markets in the country. It offers three distinct kinds of venue: glass-and-marble five-star hotels along Golf Course Road and in Cyber City, farmhouses along MG Road and the Delhi border, and big resorts with rooms on Sohna Road and NH-48. Many Delhi families now choose Gurgaon because the resorts let everyone stay on one campus for a two-day celebration.

Prices are a little higher than equivalent Delhi venues, particularly for hotels. On the other hand, resorts further out often give you more land and rooms for the same money. Use the budget calculator with "Delhi / NCR" selected to see a realistic total before you begin visiting.

How to choose a Gurgaon venue

Match the venue type to your format

If your wedding is a single evening with a reception and pheras, a hotel ballroom or a banquet hall keeps things simple: one bill, air-conditioning, parking and staff who do this every night. If you want mehendi, haldi, sangeet and the wedding over two days, a resort with rooms on site on Sohna Road can save you lakhs in transport and hotel bookings, and keeps elderly relatives comfortable.

Count rooms, not just plates

A resort that sleeps 90 people might be perfect if your outstation guests fit. If they do not, you will need a second hotel and shuttles. Run your list through the guest stay calculator to see how many rooms and nights you really need, then check the venue’s room count.

Size the space properly

Banquet capacities are often quoted for a standing reception, not seated dinner with a stage and dance floor. The venue size calculator gives you a floor-area target to check against the venue plan.

Plan for traffic

Golf Course Road and the NH-48 toll area can be gridlocked on winter evenings when several weddings end at once. Stagger arrival times, book a traffic marshal through the venue, and put the baraat route on the invite.

When to book

The best hotels and farmhouses on muhurat dates in November, December and February go 10–12 months ahead. Resorts on Sohna Road fill quickly for long weekends. If your date is flexible, look at weekends in late January or early March, which are still pleasant but less contested, and ask hotels about weekend offers — business hotels in Udyog Vihar and Cyber City are often quiet on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hidden costs in Gurgaon

  • Taxes: 18% GST on hotel banqueting and venue rent; ask for all-in quotes.
  • Room blocks: hotels may require a minimum number of room nights alongside the banquet booking.
  • Generators and lighting at farmhouses and lawns: ₹50,000–₹1.5 lakh per night.
  • Bar licence and corkage: a one-day excise licence plus corkage of ₹400–₹900 per guest at hotels.
  • Shuttles: ₹8,000–₹15,000 per tempo traveller per day if the venue is far from where guests stay.
  • Décor restrictions: some hotels only allow their empanelled decorators, which can raise costs.

Questions to ask

  1. Is the per-plate price inclusive of taxes, service and welcome drinks?
  2. How many rooms can be blocked and at what group rate?
  3. Until what time can music play outdoors and indoors?
  4. Is there a covered or indoor backup for rain or heat?
  5. Which vendors are mandatory and which can we bring?
  6. What are the payment milestones and cancellation terms?

A sample budget for a Gurgaon wedding

To make the ranges above concrete, here is how a typical two-function wedding for about 300 guests might look. A resort on Sohna Road for a sangeet and the wedding would charge rent for two evenings, per-plate catering for both functions and a group rate for around 40 rooms for one night. Add décor for two set-ups, a photography team, a DJ and a dhol for the baraat, and the total usually lands in the ₹30–40 lakh range. The same wedding at a Golf Course Road hotel would often cost more per plate but less for décor, because the ballroom already looks finished. At a West Gurgaon banquet hall with a food-inclusive package, the total could fall closer to ₹18–25 lakh.

These examples are rough, and your numbers will depend on your menu, guest turnout and how much décor you want. That is exactly what the budget calculator is for: change the guest count, number of functions and style, and it shows how the total and the category split move.

Getting the most from a venue visit

Take a floor plan, a tape measure and a phone for photos. Walk the route a guest would take from the car to the stage, and from the stage to the washrooms. Check where the kitchen or catering area sits relative to the buffet, because long carries mean cold food. Ask to see the bridal room and the groom’s room, and check whether they have air-conditioning, mirrors and enough plug points for makeup and hair tools. If the venue is outdoors, ask where the generator sits; a loud generator next to the mandap spoils both the ceremony and the video.

Season and pricing

Gurgaon follows the Delhi calendar: peak demand from mid-November to February, and again in April. Hotels drop weekend prices in the off-season (June–September) by 15–30%, and business hotels often discount weekend dates year-round. Outdoor venues on Sohna Road and NH-48 get very hot from May to mid-June, so evening-only functions or indoor backups are essential.
