About one lakh guests are expected to attend the wedding of Gali Janardhan Reddy's daughter Brahmani which will be held at the Bangalore Palace in on November 16. The 50-acre Palace Grounds have been transformed into something from the golden era of the ancient Vijayanagara Empire for the wedding. Reddy has roped in Bollywood art directors to do the job.
The set is complete with replicating the Vijaya Vithala temple architecture of Hampi. Reddy has also arranged buses to ferry others from his hometown Bellary to Bengaluru for the wedding.
Private security guards and bouncers are placed at all entry points of the ground to keep the media and the public away.
Reddy’s obsession with the Vijayanagara Empire is well known. The officials who earlier conducted a raid at his residence related to illegal mining cases have found a 15 kg golden throne and many artifacts from the erstwhile empire.
South Indian actors Priya Mani and Rakul Preet Singh are expected to perform at the wedding. The wedding will be one of a kind and according to many unofficial reports, the wedding is a 500 crore affair and will be attended by who's who of the film industry and society.
The former minister has reportedly approached many prominent stars from the Telugu and Bollywood industry to be part of the wedding.
"The mining businessman threw a party for Tollywood stars, and some of the actors told Gali that they would all come to the wedding for free. They also assured him that they would bring top actors to the wedding. This irked many actors and they decided not to go," a newspaper report quoted a source as saying.
The superstitious Reddy believes that it was after the birth of his daughter that his fortunes doubled.
