Kerala welcomes the romantic US based Indian couple for a dream destination wedding!
Congratulations Mounika and Pruthivin! Now you are the hottest couple of our lush green land. We thank you for choosing Kerala as your destination for the most special day of your life. Wedding street is sharing the beautiful wedding tale of Andhra based couple Mounika and Pruthivin who met at the United States of America and decided to tie the knot in India.
About Mounika and Pruthivin
Mounika is a fun loving and beautiful girl from Andhra Pradesh, who lived most of her life in the US. She followed her passion for colors and design and graduated as a Fashion Designer from Los Angeles. She assisted a fashion designer in Bangalore for around six months and also worked as a costume designer for the Telugu debut of Premam fame Malar (Sai Pallavi) movie Fidaa.
While Pruthivin is that well-settled software engineer and a gentleman from Andhra Pradesh who works abroad. He came to the US for his Master's and found his love in the foreign land.
That magical moment...
Though both of them hails from India, love hit them in the gorgeous city of the US. Mounika and Pruthivin became friends through a common friend who was Mounika's school friend and Pruthivin's roommate in the US. It is around half a decade that both of them are together and only when Mounika moved to India for her career, he realised that he is missing something. He took the plunge and proposed his soul mate and she couldn't resist but say YES!
What attracted you to the land of coconuts ?
Mounika has been to Kerala in her childhood days but choosing it for her wedding was pure destiny. She wanted a completely private affair of close-knit family members. She wanted her wedding to be memorable and Kerala was in the top in the list because of the backwaters. Every person attending the wedding are close to her heart and she wanted them to enjoy the functions as much as she does.
Why AJD Weddings?
After a lot of research online, Mounika shortlisted a few wedding planners to meet directly. AJD Weddings was quick and responsive which attracted the bride and the family to give this huge responsibility to them. The choice of Water's Edge by Gateway Malabar and Baymass Lakehouse and all other wedding arrangements were done as expected, by the dedicated team of AJD Weddings.

Costumes and Cuisine
As the bride herself is a fashion designer, every costume except for the Sangeet was designed by herself. All the groom's costumes were also selected and designed by Mounika. Her unique fashion sense and talent is visible in all their wedding attires.
The cuisine is mainly vegetarian as there will be a pooja in the wedding morning. The special delicacy involves 'Chakka Biriyani' or jackfruit biriyani which is going to be a new item on the menu. As jackfruit has been declared as Kerala's state fruit, it is definitely going to make us proud in front of Andhra Pradesh.
Telugu- wedding rituals
Sangeet was organised a day before, not as a part of the tradition, but for making the guests entertained. This was a fun filled function with music, dance, and food. To keep people awake and active, there was another game session arranged at the night as the wedding muhurtham was at 3.30am. All other rituals are according to the Telugu wedding style. From Mangala snanam (the holy bath), to Gowri Pooja (Ganesh pooja), Kanyadanam(handing over of the bride by the bride's family to the groom and his family), Jeelakkara Bellam and Madhuparkam, Sumangali, Tying of the Mangalsootra, Akshintalu (garland exchange), Saptapadi (couple takes seven steps together), Sthaalipakam (adorning the bride's toe with silver toe ring) and Apaginthaalu (finally bride is given off to the groom), every Telugu ritual related to Teluginti Pelli is followed in this wedding. As the bride's father is in India for a very short time, they are planning to spend more time with their family. The Honeymoon destination is decided to be in Colombo, Srilanka. Now, Kerala itself is all set to give them the dreamy experience of their life and they can enjoy the backwaters in a houseboat and have a hilltop sunrise at Munnar. Wedding street wishes the lovely couple, Mounika and Pruthivin, a Happy Married Life.
We also share our gratitude to the bride, now Mrs. Mounika Pruthivin, for sharing her wedding tale with us.
