The temperature is rising and there is no respite from the scorching sun. If you are getting married or attending a wedding this summer here are some tips to look stylish despite the heat.
It is really difficult to carry heavy fabrics and makeup during the summer and cotton is our favourite fabric to fight the summer heat, but we can't ask the bride to wear something in cotton to her own wedding.
So the better option for a South Indian bride is to select a lightweight silk saree in soothing colours or a bright pop shade which has less bling. Pair these sarees with chain and pendant type jewellery instead of heavy chokers. The light and elegant looking jewellery instead of the heavy chokers will give you a classic look.
If you prefer a lehenga over the wedding saree then again keep in mind to select a light weight fabric. It will help your skin to breath and give you respite from the heat. The jewellery tip for the saree also applies to the lehenga.
If you are a summer wedding guest you have got many more options as you could wear anything in cotton, unlike the bride who needs to keep things on a grand scale.
Other breathable fabrics are chiffon, georgette and light silks. You could match your cotton salwar or shirt-skirt combination with an embellished silk dupatta which would alleviate your whole look without compromising on comfort. A single piece of stunning jewellery will give you stylish at the same time classic look. Choose dhoti pants or palazzos instead of leggings.
If you are wearing a saree then pick a creation in cotton, khadi, georgette or chiffon with floral prints that will go well with the summer fashion look.
Also, remember to keep your makeup light if you don't want deal with a meltdown mid function. The humidity will wreck havoc if you don't keep the makeup light. Before putting on makeup don’t forget to splash your face with cold water.
It is better to keep your hair in a neat pony, or in braided buns as blow drys and flat irons will definitely fizzle when put against the heat and humidity. So if you want to keep your hair picture ready it is best to keep it in a nice updo.
