Tips to select the perfect wedding ring

Weddings and jewellery have a long-standing connection in our society. There are certain types of ornaments that speak about your relationship status. Indian married women wear mangalsutra or thali (a long chain with a specific kind of pendant) around their neck to symbolise their marital status, likewise, there are many other cultures that consider a ring on the finger to represent their relationship status.

Rings or wedding bands have been in popular use for centuries. Though the wedding ring traditions have been traced its origin to the Roman culture there are reports that wedding rings were popular even in the ancient Egypt.

The never ending circular shape of the ring is believed to represent the never-ending love between the couple. A wedding ring/band is supposed to be worn on the ring finger of the left hand as the people believed that a special vein in that finger is connected directly to the heart.

Earlier, a plain gold or silver ring was used as a wedding ring, but as the years passed the wedding rings also evolved with the societies' fashion sense. Precious and semi-precious materials were also added to the gold bands.

At present, the jewellers offer a deluge of wedding ring varieties to satisfy the fashion savvy couples. But, what are the major factors you consider while you select a wedding ring? Don't forget that wedding rings are forever so select carefully. It can be said that you should give the same care and logic you apply while selecting a wedding dress.

Not all ring style would suit every finger. You could find the ring that would better suit your finger with a little guidance. Always consider the shape and length of your finger and the shape and size of the ring and the stone that adorns it before finalising your ring.

Most ring styles go perfectly with long and thin finger types. If you are blessed with long and slender fingers then you could carry any ring with bold and large stones. But the smaller stones with wider bands will make your slender rings look wider. You could wear round, cushion, and oval diamonds

If you think your fingers are too thin then select a wider or thicker band it will help to make your finger look wide.

So if you have short and thick fingers then to make it elongate and look slender select a ring with small oval stones or those with small rectangular shaped stones. And also make sure that the wedding band should be to the thinner category.

If your fingers are long but also thick then select a ring with a large oval, marquise, pear stones or round types (probably a cluster of stones) but your wedding band should not be much wide.

Select thicker bands and large stone if you want to hide certain features that you think is deforming your fingers. A ring paired with a princess or cushion-cut stone would attract the viewers’ attention to the ring other than your fingers.
