Wrestler Sakshi Malik, who saved Indian pride by winning a bronze medal at the recently concluded Rio Olympics, is all set to marry fellow wrestler Satyawart Kadian.
The news was confirmed by Sakshi's brother Sachin. According to him, the wedding decision was taken before Sakshi left for Olympics.
However, the wedding date has not been decided yet.
Sakshi, the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Olympics medal, had announced her marriage plans after the Olympics. Her beau Satyawart himself has won many international medals, including silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
When Sakshi won the bronze at Rio Satyawart was one of the first people to congratulate her. "My Sweetheart #SakshiMalik ? You have made us proud," he wrote on his Facebook page.
Both the wrestlers belong to Rohtak in Haryana. Satyawart's father Satyawan is an Arjuna Award winner wrestler who has participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics; he now runs an akhara (a wrestling ground for training and an arena) in Rohtak.
She recently told a Bengali daily: “He (Satyawart) is very supportive. He thinks my dreams are his dreams. I will gain a friend after marriage. He will help me in my preparations for Tokyo Olympics 2020.”
