Maang Tikkas For Your Bridal Charm!

Indian brides love to wear a lot of jewelry. There are many types of jewelry to enhance the bridal look. Maang tikkas are also an important part of this bridal jewelry.

In one of our earlier articles, we have given you a glimpse of the various kinds of bridal jewelry available. But here we would help you to pick one according to your face shape.

A tikka also represents the union of two individuals through marriage. It usually covers the forehead where the ' chakra' is located.

Though it is said that you should select the tikkas according to the color of the dress, it is also important to pick one which suits your face shape. You don't want to look odd on your wedding day with a wrongly selected one.

The first step is to determine the shape of your face; for that stand before a mirror pull your hair back of your face and with a color pencil or a marker (not the permanent one) trace the outline of your face on the mirror. The shape you have drawn on the mirror will be your face shape.

As we have decided upon the face shape let us discuss the perfect tikka according to your face shape.

Oval

It is the most symmetrical face shape and is considered the most versatile and proportionate of all shapes. Any shape and size of tikka will go perfectly with an oval shape, So you could pick anything you want. But don't add extra length to your face by wearing an extremely long tikka.

Round

You could make your round face a little longer with a perfectly selected tikka. To lengthen the face, find one which is less detailed, thin and long. Pick a tikka which is longer in style with a pendant which is more oval or in a rectangular shape. Don't wear a tikka with a round or circular shaped pendant. Though the single stranded tikka may look very basic, it will look great on round faces.

If you don't want the basic looking long simple pendant type tikkas then you could opt for a  jhoomar or passa. They are the traditional tikkas worn by a Muslim bride. They will help to create the illusion of length to your face.

Heart-shape

Your chin will be narrower than the rest of the face, the pointed chin and forehead. The crescent style or large pendant type tikkas would look best on you. It will add more length to your face. The multi-layer type will also look great on you.

Rectangular

They are about longer than they are wide. You could wear tikkas with large round pendants. Avoid those which have rectangular or square shaped pendants. Large layered types will look great on you. You could wear the large wide (South Indian type) tikkas.
