Soorya Krishnamoorthy a pioneer in organising various cultural activities in and around the country has set a fine example by deciding to avoid extravaganza during his daughter Sita's wedding.
Sita is marrying Chandan Kumar, her batchmate at the Civil Service Academy. Chandan and his family, who hails from the Vaishali district in Bihar, have also agreed to a simple wedding sans any pomp and grandeur.
In the wedding invite which has gone viral, Krishnamoorthy said he always wanted to avoid the extravaganza during Sita's wedding and he was planning to conduct the wedding in a very simple way in the prayer room of his house.
He would also donate the amount he had been saving for his daughter's wedding towards the educational expenses of 20 financially backward students for the next four years. He will soon hand over the amount to the authorities of Model School Thiruvananthapuram, Government Arts College and College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram - his alma maters.
He has also asked the wedding guests to visit his house on May 13, 14 and 15 from 9 am-12.30 noon and 4.30-9.30 pm to bless the couple. He has specifically asked the guests to avoid any kind of gifts and instead of the traditional sadhya, the guests will be provided light refreshments and payasam.
