Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja married Riva Solanki at Rajkot on Sunday. The couple had got engaged in the first week of February his year.
The wedding was conducted at a poolside lawn of a hotel at his hometown Rajkot. The lavish function was attended by the families and friends of the couple. Riva Solanki is a mechanical engineer from Junagadh, but she is now based in Delhi. Her father has gifted the groom a brand new Audi Q7 car which costs around Rs 95 lakhs as a wedding gift.
During the pre-wedding rituals on Saturday, the groom demonstrated his sword skill in front of the guests. The sword dance by the groom was the highlight of the sangeet ceremony. Unfortunately, his Gujarat Lion (Jadeja's IPL team) team members couldn't attend the sangeet function as they had to face the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday evening.
The wedding also ran into controversy after someone fired ceremonial shots into the air during the baraat. The video shows Jadeja on the horse top and a man standing next to him firing shots from a pistol. Though the horse lost her control after hearing the shots the cricketer was able to control her.
According to reports, the police have launched an inquiry into the incident. Firing in the air, even with a licensed weapon, is illegal in India.
Many North Indian weddings and many political parties have been violating the law for years. Many deaths due to the celebratory firing have been reported from many parts of the country for years.
Last year a groom and his father lost their lives in a celebratory fire during the wedding in Madhya Pradesh.
