Flowers are a quintessential part of weddings. A bouquet is an important accessory for a Christian bride. But do you know there is not just one but many types of bouquets and a bride should select the bouquet according to her body type?
Brides usually select the wedding gown with the body type in mind, but according to experts, you should apply the same logic while selecting a bridal bouquet.
But before that, we will introduce you to the types of bridal bouquets and their names and will tell you what will suit you the best.
As the name indicates this one resembles a waterfall and creates a dramatic and over-the-top look. This waterfall of flowers is also called shower bouquet. Mostly orchids and vines are used to create a cascade bouquet. It will gracefully flow down from a bride's hands and will give the bride a traditional look.
If you are blessed with an hourglass figure then you can carry a cascade bouquet with élan. It would complement your curves perfectly. But remember to keep your gown simple no unwanted embellishments.
Round or posy
They are created mostly using a single type of flower and are also monochromatic. Roses are used to create the round shape of the bouquet.
This type of bouquets could suit both petite and full figured or apple shaped brides. Give a fuller and large round bouquet to a petite bride. But make sure that your hips are visible from both the sides. Otherwise, it will make you look large. If you are a full figured bride try to keep the size of the posy small. But at the same time, it shouldn't be too small as it can make your hips look huge.
It is the long stemmed version of cascade bridal bouquet which lies across the arms of the bride instead of flowing down. You can carry this type of bouquet if you have a pear-shaped body. A presentation bouquet would draw others' eyes upward and thus you can tactically conceal your larger bottom portion. The presentation bouquets are also called pageant bouquets, you can guess why.
One more piece of advice for those who have a pear-shaped body - A line skirts would help you hide the lower portion perfectly.
They are the shorter version of a posy and a nosegay bouquet will have a mix of the variety of flowers and are held together with a ribbon.
Nosegays will have smaller stems compared to posies. So a tall bride could carry a nosegay with elegance and style. The other bouquets, especially a cascade would add more height to your frame so stay away from them and carry a nosegay to balance your frame.
It is more or less like a cascade, but here the shape is much defined than a cascade. Like the cascade, those with hourglass can accessorize their fishtail shape wedding gown with a teardrop bouquet. It will also suit brides who are short and belongs to the petit group. The teardrop will create an illusion of height.
If you wish to carry a simple bouquet then you can opt for a pomander. It is simple and classy at the same time. The flowers are arranged in a round shape like in a posy but a looped ribbon would hold the flowers together and the bride can hang it from her wrist. It is also called a kissing ball.
A pomander will suit all body shapes and any bride can easily carry it with style.
