Weddings are special occasions for dressing up. You need to take a little effort to look good even if you are not the bride and groom.
It is a myth that only women have to dress up for the wedding; if you want to be a stylish guest then men also need to put a little effort while selecting their wedding dresses.
Guys, formal wear not only means suits, you can opt for the stylish ethnic Indian wears like sherwanis or bandhgalas while attending a wedding.
We are not saying that suits are boring but instead of the usual penguin look you should add some colour to it. You can experiment with navy blue, true blue, dark brown, tan/khaki or light grey. Please stay away from dramatic colours as you would look more like an eyesore than a stylish wedding guest.
You can also channel your inner James Bond in a tux. Wear a dashing tuxedo, shirt with a turned down collar and a bow tie to the wedding.
Men, there are no rules like you should only appear in a western attire at your wedding. You could go for a casual look too. A well-fitting shirt and pants paired with a stylish jacket (no tie please) is a good choice. A white linen shirt paired with a khaki casual coat and pants is also a great combo.
We said casual but that doesn't mean attending a wedding in your everyday denim.
Well, if you don't want any western look then pick any of the ethnic Indian outfits. A well-tailored kurta and pyjama can turn you into a stylish guest. Pair it with jootis or sandals (but no flip-flops).
To stand out in the crown you should wear a sherwani. Make sure that you have less bling than the groom. Actually, it is better to keep away from bling. Pick a simple, but stylish, piece with less embroidery. You can either pair it up with a pyjama, a dhoti style salwar or cigarette pants. It is better to skip the shawl as you are the wedding guest, not the groom.
Another ethnic wear bandhgala or Jodhpuri suits are also a great choice for Indian guests. Pick soft colours like beige or light green/blue etc... A bandhgala suit will instantly give you a royal look.
Another wonderful combination is an off white kurta and cigarette pants with a maroon Nehru jacket.
