Switzerland is a landlocked country which oozes storybook charm. As the Alps range occupy a major portion of this beautiful country it has many spectacular snow-capped peaks, glaciers, stunning valleys, blue lakes and postcard perfect villages and cities.

The villages that are snuggled among the mountain valleys and sparkling lakes are very famous among the honeymooners, especially Indian honeymooners, thanks to those numerous Bollywood movies which showed its leading pair romancing among the snow covered landscape of Switzerland.

Switzerland is also famous for many world-class resorts which are famous for skiing, paragliding, hiking, and adventurous sports. Switzerland shares its border with Italy, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and France. Because of its closeness to these countries Switzerland has got a multicultural quality and people speak German, French, Italian and Romansh.
Here are some of the most famous destinations that are frequented by the honeymooners.

Interlaken is one of Switzerland's most popular tourist as well as honeymoon destinations. This scenic location lies in the Bernese Highland region of Swiss Alps and is a gateway to the spectacular mountains and blue lakes. It actually lies between two beautiful lakes.  Places of interest include Hoheweg a large urban planned open space with 35 acres. There are many flower gardens, cafes and a boulevard that are part of this stunning location. For transportation, you could access mountain railways, cable cars, chairlifts and ski lifts. It is also a perfect place for cross-country skiing and paragliding.

Matterhorn is one of the most iconic mountains of Switzerland. This huge almost pyramidal peak is one of the highest peaks in the Alps range. It attracts numerous explorers and climbers every year. The picturesque Zermatt village lies at the foot of this peak. It is an attractive little paradise which has banned motorised vehicles to preserve the air quality. Instead of the motorised vehicles, you could find horse-drawn carriages for transportation in Zermatt. It has many restaurants, cafes and stunning views of the valleys and beautiful architecture. It is also a heaven for skiers and there are many fans of hiking, biking and mountain climbers.

Go for boating and a dip in Lake Geneva. It is in Geneva the European seat of the United Nations. The Jet d'Eau (a large fountain) that jets water to an altitude of 460 ft above the water level is one of the city's most famous landmarks. You could view it from anywhere from the city while travelling by air. There are many historical buildings in the city with stunning architecture.  You could also take a leisurely stroll through the medieval old town which boasts of wonderful cafés and boutiques.

The capital city Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has stunning locations and a wonderful urban planning. The city has got an old world charm that is visible with its cobbled streets and medieval architecture. There are many galleries and museums that can be enjoyed not just by the art lovers but also by the tourists.

Switzerland also has the Europe’s largest waterfalls - the Rhine falls at Schaffhausen. Boat trips are offered here and give stunning views of the falls.

The highest train station in Europe is also in Switzerland at Jungfraujoch. The view is spectacular and breathtaking. Jungfraujoch is also known as the 'Top of Europe'. At Jungfraujoch begins the longest glacier in Europe the Great Aletsch Glacier. You could go for Hiking across the glacier to the Mönchsjoch hut from here. At Jungfraujoch, you could indulge in activities such as snow tubing, sledging, skiing, snowball fight etc... There is an Ice Palace that attracts hordes of tourists.
