This south-east Asian country is called the 'land of smiles'. Thailand has everything a traveller would want - from developed cities to natural beauties. It is one of the hottest honeymoon destinations in Asia. The country has been so far successful in absorbing positive Western aspects while managing to stick to its rich culture and heritage.

The Thai people are also very friendly and believe in a simple living based on Buddhist principles.

Bangkok is the capital city and is the largest city. The high-rise buildings, nightlife, historic places and the busy canal-side markets make Bangkok a wonder place to visit.
One of the top historical tourist attractions in Bangkok is Grand Palace. It houses the Wat Phra Kaeo - the temple of the Emerald Buddha.

The relic which is kept here is believed to be a born fragment of Lord Buddha himself. The Grand Palace has been the official residence of the royal family of Thailand from 1782 to 1925. It is presently used for official events.

The palace is not a single structure it consists of a number of buildings, courtyards, lawns and gardens. You can go for a sightseeing tour of the Grand Palace and learn about the history and culture of this South-east Asian country.

Wat Pho the Buddhist temple complex that is located near to the Grand Palace was built by Kim Rama I built in the 17th century and is also the oldest Buddhist temple in Bangkok. There are more than a thousand Buddha images in this temple and also houses the largest Buddha image. There is also a large reclining Buddha statue in the temple which is the largest Buddha statue in the country.

Bangkok also has a sprawling weekend market called Chatuchak which is the largest in the world. You could shop anything from live animals, jewellery to street foods here.
The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is a must visit attraction in Bangkok.

If you want to see the real beauty of Thailand, then you should visit the villages and the beaches of this wonderful country. The western region close to Burma has many beautiful mountainous jungles, waterfalls and a great cuisine. The Pai province is the perfect place to enjoy the rugged beauty of the villages and mountains.

Khao Yai National Park is a great place to see the elephants which are very revered by the Thai people.

The historic city Ayutthaya is an excellent place to learn about the ancient history of Thailand. And it can be reached by bus or train from Bangkok.

The Tiger Kingdom in Phuket would give you a chance to meet eye-to-eye with some the majestic tigers. The guests are allowed to interact with the tigers there that are born in captivity and because of that they are gentle compared to their wild counterparts.

Other major attractions in Thailand are its exotic beaches. Phuket is one of the best places in the world to enjoy the sea and sand. It has got more than 30 beaches and is a great place to chill.

Freedom Beach, Banana Beach, Kata Beach, Layan Beach, Surin Beach and Nai Harn Beach are the most famous among these 30 beaches.
