Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad
The Falaknuma Palace earlier belonged to Paigah noble family, said to be richer than many royal families at that time, of Hyderabad. In 1897 he presented the palace to the sixth Nizam as an offering. The palace has been constructed with a rare blend of Italian and Tudor architecture. According to history, Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, prime minister of Hyderabad built the palace at a cost of 40 lakhs in 1893. Currently, the palace is maintained by the Taj Group from 2000.
Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur
It was formerly known as Jag Niwas and is located on an island called Jag Niwas in Lake Pichola. The construction of the palace was concluded in 1746 under the direction of the Maharana Jagat Singh II of Udaipur. He had planned it as a winter palace. It was converted into a luxury hotel in the 1970s and the Taj Group took over the management in 1971. The hotel has got boats which transport the guests to the Lake Palace from a jetty at the City Palace.
Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur
Though the palace is still a private residence, a part of the palace is managed by the Taj Hotels. The erstwhile Jodhpur royal family still uses it as their principal residence. The palace, which was opened in the year 1943, was constructed as a means to provide employment to people who were suffering from famine. The beautiful palace in sandstone and marble has got 347 rooms and was named the best hotel of 2016 by the TripAdvisor.
Devigarh Palace, Udaipur
The palace which was built in the 18th century was the royal residence of the Delwara principality. The beautiful palace is surrounded by the Aravalli hills and in 2006 it was named as the country's best luxury hotel by the New York Times. Other than hosting many high profile weddings, the palace has been featured in the 2007 Bollywood movie 'Eklavya'.
Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara
The palace was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in the year 1890. The palace is four times the size of Buckingham palace. The palace has a huge collection of the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. The palace has been featured in the 2015 movie 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo'.
